Welcome to our “Get to Know Advanced RPO” series!  Want to know what makes Advanced RPO special? It’s our people, and you’ll get to meet them, one at a time.

Today let’s meet Rebekah King. Rebekah is a sourcer with a unique background of psychology and research, she has a true love of books and building beautiful furniture. She thrives in the challenge of uncovering top talent understanding how the client world and the candidate world both work to create a successful hire. Let’s hear what Rebekah has to say about sourcing and working for Advanced RPO.

What’s wonderful about working for Advanced RPO & why would someone want to work here?

The wonderful thing about Advanced RPO is the people I work with. You truly are part of a team of individuals who never fail to come together to reach the goals of the company. The support of my peers is also a huge benefit of working at ARPO. Whether it’s a kind word, a solution to a problem or just an ear to listen, I know I can count on my coworkers to get through whatever the day brings. To anyone thinking about working at Advanced RPO, I would say come for the rewarding work and stay for the amazing coworkers.

What do you enjoy about sourcing? What drew you to this field?

The thing I love about sourcing is the deep dive research into multiple industries and disciplines, combined with the countless ways to run a search. Even when you think you’ve hit a wall trying to find new candidates or information for a certain market, creative thinking and strategic searches can open the door to a wealth of new knowledge. When I first started with Advanced RPO five years ago I knew nothing about recruiting or the RPO space, but our previous EVP of sales recognized that my extensive background in psychology and research would transition well into a sourcing role. And she was right! I love sourcing and am so passionate about the search and the task of uncovering new people, and information. Sourcing is truly a space where I thrive.

What do you think makes an exceptional RPO sourcer?

The ability to think creatively, stay open minded about the route a search can take and have an unflappable drive to find candidates and market info. Sometimes as a sourcer you can be asked to find the “impossible”, but with drive, determination and the creative juices flowing, nothing is impossible.

How do you see the recruitment marketplace changing right now? What do you think is one of the most important trends in recruiting?

I think one of the biggest changes in the recruitment marketplace is how recruiters are connecting with candidates. Networking and connecting with candidates on a more personal level has become a key component in attracting the best of the best for open positions. This is also an important trend in recruiting, because as candidates become more knowledgeable about the recruiting process and are inundated with potential new roles, connecting with them on a personal level can set up a recruiter for success.

What advice do you have for anyone who is looking for a new job?

Do your homework! Understanding the company and the environment they foster for their employees can be more telling if it’s a fit for you than the job you may be applying for.

Why would someone want to work with Advanced RPO?

Because we’re amazing! Great leadership, great coworkers, and as a company we always strive to grow and change for the better.

Life is crazy. What keeps you sane? How do you recharge?

Books keep me sane! I love reading just about anything I can get my hands on. Favorite genres are sci-fi,thriller, mystery, historical fiction, fantasy and suspense. I recharge by snuggling with my two cats or building and refinishing furniture. Most recently I built a new sectional for my living room as well as a cat tree for my fur babies.

Lastly, any quotes, mantras or inspiration for our readers?

“Sometimes the best laid plans blow up in our faces and as we’re picking up the pieces we realize the explosion was the plan all along.”
